Dr. Hurd Manzanita is an evergreen large shrub to small tree that grows fairly rapidly to 12-15 feet tall and wide, with an open structure and beautiful dark mahogany red-barked stems.
It produces small white flowers at the branch tips in late winter. Plant in full sun to light shade and irrigate occasionally once established. If you’re in an area that receives light rainfall year round or are close to the ocean, you may not need to water at all.
Hardy down to 10 degrees fahrenheit and able to tolerate poor soil conditions, this manzanita is one of the most versatile, drought tolerant landscape plants available for your garden.
